Located within large grounds, Riverside Retreat is truly a magnificent home. Enter the property and take a moment to take in what you see. The open plan living area with its spiral staircase, antique furniture and the attention to detail is proof that a lot of care has been taken to make this villa a perfect haven. It is stylishly decorated and if you are looking for that little bit extra, then look no further. Step outside, and the tropical garden and the views of the river just a few feet away, will take your breath away. There is a large swimming pool with sun-lounges carefully placed under shady spots. And for total indulgence, there is also a Health Spa (at additional cost, paid locally) with an Ayurveda Doctor in daily attendance. There are two further holiday apartments situated in the grounds. Therefore guests should be aware that the pool and the Health Spa would be shared with other guests. There are also two friendly resident dogs that no doubt will greet you upon your arrival! A large group (up to 10 people) could also rent the adjoining villa (Riverside Villa) for exclusive use. This would be ideal for two or three families holidaying together.

There are 2 double bedrooms of which one is located on the ground floor and the other is on the first floor with private balcony overlooking the river. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning, fans and en-suite facilities with great indoor/outdoor style bathrooms with slate tiles, plants and a perfect view of the stars at night. The bedroom arrangements are not the best if you have small children as the master bedroom is upstairs. Would be fine with teenagers giving them and you some privacy!

There is a large open plan living area which includes a dining area with seating for 10 people. Guests have the use of a TV (with Sky), Video and a Hi-Fi. There is also a small indoor pond with fountain on the ground floor. There are further seating areas upstairs leading to the balcony. The verandah, with its many armchairs and seating invite you to spend the afternoon reading a book, playing games or simply gazing at the wonderful views! |

There is a fully equipped modern kitchen with all appliances including an American Fridge-Freezer with an ice dispenser. The villa comes with a full-time cook and a gardener. Hussein, the cook can prepare excellent western dishes as well as fabulous Sri Lankan curries. Beds are made daily and the linen changed every other day. Towels are also provided, though guests will need to bring their own pool towels. A laundry service is available (at additional cost, paid locally). Meals are not included in the price and guests should discuss meal requirements with Hussein. You will need to purchase all ingredients. This can be done by either going to a local supermarket yourself or by providing Hussein with some cash and he will do it for you. A detailed account of the expenditure will be kept. The owner, Illyas, also lives on the grounds and he will ensure that you are really taken care of. Illyas is fluent in English, German and Sinhalese of course!
