Overview

The Tea Country is the most scenic part of Sri Lanka with breathtaking views of mountain ranges and ravines, of winding roads and waterfalls. "Ceylon Tea Trails" features a collection of the finest luxury tea bungalows in this region of the country.

The bungalow at Norwood (built 1890) commands a fine view of the eastern end of the Bogawantalawa valley and rests in the shelter of one of the finest bamboo stands to be found anywhere. The suites are oversized with imposing colonial style furniture, some with four-poster beds and very elegant bathrooms. A spacious lounge and well-stocked library lead out to a croquet lawn, a large swimming pool and sun deck. It is here where planters of the past invited friends to enjoy the pristine air and glorious outlook. You too can wander the gardens unchanged since yesteryear, soaking up the atmosphere of a time gone by.

Norwood may be rented as a complete bungalow or by the suite. The friendly staff are attentive and discreet and offer an exceptional level of service.

A lovely villa - a must for those looking to experience what life was like in the days of the British colonial tea planters.

Bedrooms

There are 5 rooms in total.

The master suite (Hazel) has a separate sitting room. The garden suites (Irvine & Andrews) have a private verandah leading to the beautifully manicured gardens. The luxury rooms (Trevaldwyn & Jeffery) are also lovely, just slightly smaller.

All rooms are beautifully furnished with a style of neo-colonial to classical English.

All room have a private ensuite bathroom either with a shower or a tropical flower bath.

Living Areas

There are plenty of living areas with elegant pale tones and natural wood to create an equilibrium in the midst of a hectic life. The bungalow is dotted with old wooden desks, Silk cushions, regency stripped footstools and plenty open spaces warmed by roaring log fires. Sit back and enjoy a mulled wine or the finest spirits, a drink that thrills the heart. Take a glimpse of the old books, old prints, antique maps and the rooms filled with flowers in vibrant colours.

Villa staff & Meals

The bungalow is fully staffed. All meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea & Dinner) are included. A range of choices are offered. If you would like to see a full sample menu to give you an idea of what delights to expect please contact us.
