'Nisala Arana', the abode of peace, is a beautiful 150 year-old restored Dutch Colonial Villa, set within 4 acres of landscaped gardens. Located in the village of Kommala, Bentota - Nisala Arana was once the home of the 'Vedha Mahathaya' - the village ayurvedic doctor. A great sense of peace and tranquillity falls upon you as you enter through the glorious seven-foot high gates made of wooden railway sleepers. The gardens are home to many species of plants and trees including Coconut Palms, Travelers Palms, Royal Palms, Mango and other fruit trees, medicine plants, Orchids and many more. There are 6 comfortable rooms located within the Doctors House, The Coconut Wing and the Mango Wing. Guests are able to rent individual rooms, a Wing or the entire property which can cater up to 16 people. There is a lovely turquoise pool with a black granite border and plenty of shade to protect you from the heat. A Pavilion overlooks the pool where you can dine, enjoy a cup of tea, a fresh lime juice or simply sit back and immerse yourself into a good book. There is also a meditation temple, originally built for the village doctor, featuring sinhalese style trelliswork and original antique double doors. There is also a badminton court for guest use. There are 6 comfortable bedrooms in total. The Doctors House - is perfect for a family of 4. The house consists of the master bedroom and attic, a second double bedroom, a shared bathroom, a living room, a private dining room and a very pretty indoor contemplation pond, which is open to the stars. Romantic 4-poster beds, draped with white netting and pure white sheets, antique furniture and ornaments from an era gone by completes the Doctor's House. Guests also have the use of Satellite TV, DVD player, Hi Fi system, indoor games and a library. The Coconut Wing - built on the site of the old 'wedding room', which was used by the original family for various festivals, comprise of two large ground floor bedrooms each with a wonderful open air bathroom. Both rooms have a pretty 4-poster bed, a ceiling fan, antique furniture, high ceiling with beams and concrete floors making these rooms very cool and airy. The bathrooms have hot/cold water and an indoor garden. There is a shared verandah with planter's chairs for you to sit back and enjoy your morning cup of tea. The Mango Wing - located on the first floor with great views of the gardens and the surrounding landscape, comprise of two large bedroom suites. Each suite with twin antique 4-poster beds is ideal for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). The suites comprise of antique almirah (wardrobe), a writing desk and dining facilities for 2 people. Against a backdrop of brilliant white walls and high celings, a perfect retreat for relaxing has been created. Each suite enjoys a large private en-suite bathroom with great semi-jungle views. Trellised windows, which are fully openable, creates a terrific feeling of the outdoors whilst enjoying a shower. There is a wonderful verandah featuring a rare and beautiful antique Jaffna balustrade and along with planter's chairs and a cool breeze, the Mango Wing is one of the best places to be. The many verandahs and the pavilion provide numerous areas for you to relax. The Doctors House has a living room with Satellite TV, DVD and a Hi Fi system. Guests are invited to dine at the pavilion or on their private verandah....you decide! |

A cook, a house keeper, a gardener, a pool attendant and a watchman makes up the staff at Nisala Arana. Your meals will be prepared by the cook. Menus can be discussed on arrival and planned daily. If you have any preferences, please discuss with your cook, he will be happy to accommodate your requests. Simply tell the cook what you want, how spicy you want it, and he will prepare it for you. Be prepared to taste vegetables, prawns, lobsters and crabs like you've never tasted before! Meal rates (approximately) : Breakfast US$6, Lunch US$8, Dinner US$10 per person. Children's meal 50%. The villa will be cleaned daily and the linen and towels changed every other day. Guests are required to bring their own pool towels.

Payment Policy A 15% deposit is payable to secure the booking. The deposit can be paid via our secure server or via bank transfer. Customers must pay all bank charges in the case of a bank transfer. The balance is to be paid directly to Nisala Arana on departure. Cancellation Policy The deposit is non refundable.If a cancellation is made 1 month prior to arrival an additional 40% is charged. If cancellation is within 1 week of intended stay 100% of the booking is charged. |
